Kayaking |
 |
|
Duration:3 Hours
Exertion Level: Medium
Minimum Group : 4
Camp Site:
Kumarakom,
Alleppey |
|
Kayaking through the
backwaters of Kerala is an awesome experience. You will travel through the
narrow lagoons to the open lake. The team will be accompanied by our
trained guides to ensure your safety. You need to have a basic idea of
kayaking and good swimming skills to participate in this in activity.
A kayak is a small
human-powered boat. It typically has a covered deck, and a cockpit covered
by a spray skirt. It is propelled by a double-bladed paddle. Kayaks may
accommodate one, two, or occasionally three paddlers who sit facing
forward in one or more cockpits below the deck of the boat. The spray
skirt or similar waterproof garment attaches securely to the edges of the
cockpit, preventing the entry of water from waves or spray, and making it
possible in most styles of boat, to roll the kayak upright again without
it filling with water or ejecting the peddler.

White Water Rafting |
 |
|
Duration:6-8 Hours
Exertion Level: Medium
Minimum Group : 7
Camp Site: Bothathankettu |
|
|
With the intricate
network of mountain rivers flowing through a myriad of different colours
of rocky gorges, forests, flowers and high mountain villages, the Kerala
hills provide ideal locales for the perfect White water rafting.
The challenge of the turbulent rivers is no
less than that of the rugged mountains. Fed by innumerable streams they
race along tortuous boulder strewn beds, cutting deep gorges and breaking
into silvery white rapids. The sport of white water river rafting calls
for a triumph over the swift swirling river as it gushes past spectacular
mountains. It is practiced mainly in the upper reaches where the water is
wild and white as it froths and foams, crashing against narrow gorges,
rocky outcrops and falls at deep gradients.

Parasailing consists of
a parachute-like parasail, attached to a 300-meter long towrope, which is
pulled along, by a speeding form of transport. When the speed rises to
beyond stalling speed, the parachute rises, taking the pilot up in the
air. Parasailing has two variations: a terrestrial and an aquatic one,
with a jeep (usually) being used on ground and a motorboat being used in
the water. As compared to gliding, parasailing is easier to learn and is
also safer.
The length of the towrope restricts the height gained by a parasail. The
rule of thumb is that you achieve a height two-thirds the length of the
rope. Other factors like wind speed, participants weight also have an
important part to play. The time in the air depends on the amount of space
available and the strength of the breeze. The stronger the breeze and the
longer the run for the towing vehicle the longer and higher the flight
will be. There are no weight restrictions in parasailing. The lighter you
are, the higher you can go. Parachutes come in various weight
classifications.
